Model Aircraft and Radio Control Cars

Friday, May 29th, 2009

RC Off Road Monster Truck

Radio control is an engaging and fun hobby. I first got into radio control when, at the age of 10, a generous uncle bought me a model aircraft for my birthday. It was a scale model of a First World War biplane with a little engine that ran on what I think was methylated spirit. Today RC cars and aircraft are much more sophisticated, but still great fun and very educational.

Today I have several RC cars and a couple of high performance aircraft. I have dabbled with RC boats but my favourites are aircraft and cars.

If you are thinking about buying a radion control model its worth taking a few moments to consider exactly what you’ll be spending your money on. Radio control cars tend to fall into two categories:  those that are powered by an electric motor and those powered by a little engine that uses a Nitro Methanol fuel mix.

Like many RC car enthusiasts I  my favoured RC cars are those powered by proper little engines. For me, racing RC cars is not just about hurtling around a race track at break neck speed. Optimising your RC car is much like formula one racing, its all about the engineering, the tuning and tweaking to get the best performance.

Getting into RC cars at an early age can be very educational. My personal interest in radio control led to my career in electronics, all because I had to build and maintain my own radio control equipment. If you are looking for a toy that is both fun and educational I strongly recommend you consider a neat little radio control car.

For a very first RC car I recommend you select an electric model. Firstly the price. Electric powered RC cars tend to be much cheaper than their Nitro powered equivalents. Secondly simplicity. Electrically powered cars are the simplest. There are an incredible selection of electric RC cars to choose from so you’re bound to find a model that inspires your imagination. Personally, I love the off-road style of rc cars. Great fun on a little rough terrain, bouncing through puddles and over muddy humps.

But I started out with a radio control model aircraft. I can still recall the thrill of taking the controls for the first time. Taking the controls and making the model plane swoop and climb was such a thrill.

As for rc cars, these days there is a great selection of model aircraft to choose from with a range of price tags. For a small amount of money you can get yourself a little RC aircraft that can be launched from the palm of your hand, great fun in the office or home. For a little more cash you can get yourself an easy-to-control model aircraft that will give you many hours of fun.

Some of todays model aircraft come with advanced crash avoidance systems that will detect the ground and help the aircraft to land safely. There are even some truly magnificent scale models of well known aircraft including the Spitfire and Focke Wulf.

Radio control is a great hobbly that will give you many hours of fun and excitement. If you are interested in getting into radio control I suggest that you don’t spend too much to start with.

Ballroom dance dresses 2

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Co-published by: Womens Laptop Backpacks. Would like to take up ballroom dancing?  The first thing you need to do is start shopping for ballroom dance dresses.

The most important thing that you must remember when choosing ballroom dance dresses is that you should be able to move about comfortably in the selected dress.

It is a certain type of dress that still goes for mens’ common ballroom dance dresses.  It is not unusual to find men on the dance floor wearing only a shirt with a vest.  Though not compulsory, jackets and ties are suitable.  If you enjoy courting the female or your lady, a complete kit or a tuxedo won’t do any harm.  Normally, women’s ballroom dance dresses try to keep time with the spirit of the intended dance. For example, for  a complicated waltz ladies may wear a ball gown that may extend up to the dance floor whereas for more recent Latin dance, it could be a very pertinent short gown or skirt.  Ballroom dance partners – the man and woman - usually coordinate the colors of their ballroom dance dresses.  For instance, if the lady prefers to wear a red ballroom dance dress, her partner will put on a matching red tie, vest or a shirt to go with her attire.

Various companies in various parts of the globe offer a great range of dresses online making it the ideal place to search for ballroom dance dresses.

Pre-owned ballroom dance dresses are ideal if you are after best value for your money as ballroom dance dresses are a drag on your purse.  But, if you find it impossible to locate an affordable ready-made ballroom dance dress (especially the ladies), you can opt to get it custom made from a seamstress who has practice with such projects.   The experience of getting your custom-made ballroom dance dress is a fabulous extravaganza especially if it is your first.

Just as it is vital to select the most appropriate ballroom dance dress, it is of importance to choose the correct shoes as the wrong type may completely destroy your ballroom dance experience.  The shoes that you wear must have leather or suede soles because these help maintain balance and since dancing more often than not involves sliding across the floor.

Finally, picking the right ballroom dress is all about attitude – attitude of the dance, attitude of the music your dancing to and of course, your own attitude.

If you have a little money to invest, use the paid sites. You’ll get results faster. The benefit in using these sites is that they are indexed quickly, so you’ll start getting traffic to your ad and inquiries from buyers quickly.

With that in mind, let’s look at 2 simple ways that ANYONE, right now, can incorporate into their big buck business model, and turn the whole thing around….and in a hurry! Read on.

Now if you do not have a website then don’t get discouraged, their are many ways for you to create a free website through blogs or web 2,0 properties such as a squidoo lenses and that is considered as good if not better then having you own website.

But the simple truth is that ANYONE can use article marketing as amazingly effective tool for building a list, selling affiliate products, creating passion and fervor for a product launch, you name it, you can do it with creating copious amounts of killer content, and the beauty is it’s completely free to boot!.

Newbie guide to holding a Snooker Cue

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

How Do I Improve My Snooker Cue Hold

Snooker is often regarded as the harder game to play from other cue sports like Billiards or Pool. Its lenghthier and harder to use precisely. Amateurs inadvertently tend to hold the cue incorrectly and thus compromising their potential to improve their game. There is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ way of holding a cue. My aim is to guide you here to get a better understanding of how to deliver a better shot!

Step 1

Assuming your right-handed, hold the cue about one third up from the butt of the cue in your right hand. A good quality Snooker Cue is made with heavier wood at the butt end than the tip end so the area you grip the cue very much determines the delivery of power. Much like a hammer, if you hold the handle further from the head there’s more clout than if you hold it near the head.

Step 2

Place the left hand flat on the table. Spread your fingers slightly. with your thumb against the index finger, curve the thumb up and out keeping contact with the index finger. Do not force this! It should feel natural.

Step 3

You may find it useful if you bend down so that your chin is resting very gently on the snooker cue to take aim. Keep your grip on the right hand loose to moderate but always feeling comfortable. I sometimes find better control if I keep my baby finger away from the cue on the right hand whilst not making full contact with the palm.

Step 4

Continue as above, gently swing the cue whilst lining up your shot and make full gripping contact with your right hand as you strike the cue ball.

After thoughts

This by no means is the be-all and end-all to holding your cue but it’s a good start. your style of holding a cue will change with you over time. Good luck and may you have many years of great frames of snooker.

Basic Skills Needed For Volleyball

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

The worst situation that a volleyball team could be in is to show up at a game without knowing the basic skills they needed to able to be competitive.  Hitting the ball, being in the right place, physical conditioning, and a player’s ability to jump can help to be competitive as well as gain confidence in the sport.  Getting back to the basics for volleyball can help a player to gain the skills necessary for every game.

General Playing Skills That Should Be Developed

1.  Serving.  This is where the game starts and is a necessary skill.  There are two basic types of serves.  The first is overhand; where the player will throw the ball in the air first, then hits it on the way down.  The other being underhand, where the server holds the ball in one hand and swings their other arm underneath the ball to hit it. Once the basics are mastered, a player can the learn variations of either one of these.

2.  Pass or reception.  This is usually set up by the setter of the game.  It is used in order to receive the ball and set the ball up to the another player on your own team.  They will then have the ability to put the ball to the other side in a manner to win the point.

3.  Tip.  A tip is used as a way to trick the other team into thinking that the ball will go further than in actuality.  The player hits the ball lightly, making it just go over the net but not too far into the other team’s side so that they can’t hit it back.

4.  Dig.  This is the ability for a player to save the ball from striking the floor after it has been spiked by an apponent. A player may often slide underneath the ball and extend his/her arms to make the save.

5.  Rebound.  This occurs when the ball is blocked, making the players “rebound”, or take the ball back.

Physical Skills That Should Be Developed

1. Quickness.  Many people think quickness and speed are the same. A volleyball player does not require the speed of a sprinter, but being able to react quickly is a big plus.

2. Vertical Jump. All things being equal, a volleyball player that can jump higher than the opposition has a great advantage. Being able to jump up to hit a ball before your opponent does can help to win more points.

Developing the physical skills often leads to the improvement of the playing skills. Increasing a player’s quickness will help them respond more quickly and let them get to more “saves”. A player that can jump higher will be able to tip and spike the ball over the opposition easier. And the development of the combination of skills work together to give the player more confidence in his or her ability to play the game.

For further information on how to improve your physical skills, check out How To Jump Higher.
